Reviews
Great bookstore in downtown Chicago. Quaint, great smell (that bookstore smell, if you know what I mean) hardwood floors that creak in spots, giving it character and charm. A great selection of books, anything we could think of was there. I ended up with a number of books and a great afternoon experience with my daughter. They also had banned books! Lol. I thought that was great. There was a children's area as well and the staff was super knowledgeable and friendly the three times I spoke with them.
Fabulous independent neighbourhood book store. Well curated selection, nice old school wooden floors atmosphere - I spent a good hour browsing here - how awesome 🤩 …
This is a great little book store in a sleepy section of Printers Row. I found a couple of books I was searching for on their web site and instead of paying online and picking them up, it was a better decision to visit in person and pluck them off the shelves myself. A nice selection of stationery items and gifts as well. Parking is a bit of a beast so if you can't take public transportation, consider driving there on Sundays when more spaces are available.
So great that Sandmeyer's still exists despite the outrageous rents that real estate developers demand. And it was great to go to a real place to shop instead of throwing money at invisible billionaires.
It's a very nice neighbourhood and a very lovely bookstore. They have a great selection on books of every genre. Being Portuguese i was very fond of thay fact that they had two books of Fernando Pessoa, one of the poetry and the biography.
Fabulous independent bookstore! They offer a huge selection of books at this local bookshop. Cute shop in the landmark Rowe Building Lofts. The owner is super friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. You must stop in if you’re in Printers Row.
I stepped into Sandmeyer’s for the first time during the Printer’s Row Lit Fest. The first thing I noticed was the wide selection of books about Chicago as well as by local authors at the front of the store! I loved that it was front and center as Printer’s Row used to be a book maker’s hub.
As for the rest of the store I’d say that the selection is pretty diverse. You’ll find shelf talkers all over the store in every genre. I like when stores put forth lesser known authors instead of just what’s on the NYT best seller’s list so I was happy to see a good mix.
Sandmeyer’s is in a historical building which has an industrial vibe with the visible pipes and squeaky floors. Very charming! Through no fault of them, you have to go up some stairs to get to the shop so it may not be accessible for everyone.
Can’t speak to the attentiveness of the staff but they seemed pretty friendly ringing customers up. Good to see the store busy during Lit Fest.
This is a gem of a bookstore! Visiting from Boston and wish we had something like this in my neighborhood. Great selection with a wide variety of genres and lots of employee book recommendations.
Great book selection. It’s nice to be able to walk in and spend some time picking out a good book. They’ve got some nice greeting cards too. Recommend stopping by if you’re in the area.
